A year on from the tragic passing of our dear friend Phil K, Lobotomy Records is keeping his memory alive with a very special re-release of the monstrous “Furball”, the mind-bending collaboration between Phil, Habersham, and Dave Preston which was originally released in 2004.
“Furball” was licensed to high-profile compilations such as Renaissance: Therapy Sessions and Future Breaks, and was selected as one of the best progressive breaks of all time by Andrew Wowk for Red Bull Music

The 2021 re-release is available both digitally and as a limited run of hand-numbered, never-played original vinyl pressings. Both the original version and the Marscruiser remix are included, alongside a brand-new interpretation from Blake Potter.
The original mix stood out amongst its contemporaries as it explored a darker, more menacing side of progressive breaks, combining rugged, heavily processed beats, sinister detuned harps, a brutal, growling bassline, and glitchy effects. Marscruiser’s remix brought the melodic elements of the track to the forefront and gave the drums a more leftfield, off-kilter arrangement, turning the track into a heady, early morning trip. Finally, Blake Potter offers up a contemporary interpretation which uses the warm pads from the original’s breakdown as the primary component of a slowly-evolving, spacious soundscape before bringing in a subtle, staccato bassline and stripped-down beats.
In honour of his contribution to the electronic music community, all proceeds from sales until [insert date here] will be donated to Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio (MESS Ltd), a unique non-profit organization beloved by Phil.
